Why We Do Research

Illinois Lung & Critical Care Institute believes that research is the cornerstone to further understanding the diseases and conditions that affect our patients. Through the use of case studies and clinical trials, we are able to find newer, better treatments that may have fewer side effects, discover ways of earlier detection, as well – as have the potential to someday prevent certain diseases.

Our patients benefit from our research commitment by not only having access to medicines and treatments that may not otherwise be available, but by experiencing a high level of care and follow-up monitoring from physicians and nurses.

Our dedicated research department, led by Dr. William Tillis, consists of two full-time registered nurse study coordinators. We oversee up to a dozen studies and research projects at a time. All studies are carefully monitored internally by the research organization, and by the Peoria Institutional Review Board (IRB).
